Megan Blackburn is a native small-town Kansan. She grew up going to church in a conservative “little white church” on main street in Leon, KS. Accepting Christ when she was in third grade, Megan has committed herself to keeping her eyes on Him–her constant companion and friend. Throughout many trials He has never left her side. She is so thankful that He chose her.
Megan has a beautiful tween daughter who is “the light of [her] life,” and a “ruggedly handsome husband,” who she is madly in love with. They live on a small “farm” in the Flint Hills. Animal lovers, they have a mini zoo at their house–hosting not only cats and dogs but also some exotic pets as well rabbits, and chickens. They really love all of God’s creatures. Their family is very active in 4-H and loves living a rural life. Summers are filled with fairs and family.
Megan serves as secretary at her home church (Alert Evangelical Covenant). Additionally she teaches/coaches debate, drama, speech and scholar’s bowl for the local high school. Megan loves working with high school students and especially enjoys watching them grow in skill and maturity. She loves that they aren’t afraid of asking “the deep questions.”
A graduate of Kansas State University in speech, communications, theatre and English, Megan enjoys writing plays, poetry, devotions, and (of course) blogs that glorify her Lord and Savior. “Staying Alert” was founded on her desire to write for Him.
“God has blessed me with an amazing testimony to Him. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be here had he not intervened–more times than I can count. He is my rock. I’m writing this blog so I can “Stay Alert.” In my obedience, I pray God uses my words to make a difference in His Kingdom.”
